Since childhood, I have always gained great fulfillment in using my hands to "create" in a number of ways. Working in a variety of media, including photography, I am continually intrigued with the uniqueness, unpredictability, and transparency of watercolour. I also explore with pen and ink, pencil, coloured pencil, and more recently, acrylics. Although having participated in some locally conducted art classes in the past, I enjoy the adventures and challenges of being self-taught.

Born and raised in Wetaskiwin, Alberta, I have lived over twenty years west of Rocky Mountain House, experiencing the vast beauty and adventure of the "West Country" in the majestic foothills of the Alberta Rockies. After ten remarkable years as a Junior High School teacher and vice-principal of First Nations children, I chose to pursue a new journey through art and photography.

Many underlying themes and motivation for my work often try to convey what we fail to notice, rushing by the world around us, taking simple images for granted; learning to really "see", therefore, becomes a fascinating challenge. These works are a representation of my attempts to capture the subtleties of light and detail as well as the essence of simple beauty in the familiar images of daily life surrounding us.
